Miko got his first dose of buprenorphine. I was told it can make him drowsy. Between that and eating dinner, he's napping. Food coma.
This is how I found him.
He loves his very uncomfortable looking positions. 
Hmmm.....3 hours later and he's still out of it. I may need to lower his dosage. I also noticed he can't stand up at all. His hind legs don't have the strength to support him. That's very worrisome. I'll need to watch that. I think I'll stay up for awhile to monitor him.
As you can see, I also put on his Back on Track coat. It's really cold in my house. I finally turned on the heat (it was 58 this morning...inside!!). Lately, I've been closing the door to my bedroom and keeping it warm in there (to the point where I'm kicking off blankets). It just seems so cold on the ground. I know the Back on Track coat doesn't seem to do much, or at least it didn't before. And he can't wear it overnight as he gets tangled up in it (I have to keep an eye on him when he wears it).
If it is working, I think I'll be able to see a noticeable difference when he's eating tomorrow. It's when he looks the most uncomfortable. But I don't know if that's due to pain, or because his body doesn't "stand up" the way he wants it to, or if his rear end gets tired. So many reasons.
I had to order the SAM-e. If all is well with him, I should see some changes in a month or so if that's working. We shall see. Fingers crossed some of this stuff helps him and yes, his quality of life.
