Bitsy's Liver

Hope Bitsy is better soon. She looks just like our Hollie did! Hollie had elevated liver enzymes and we thought it was from the anti inflammatories she was on. We stopped them and put her on the Tramidol and they did come down. However it turned out the liver issues were not from the medications, it turned out she had gallbladder disease which caused the liver problems. Just a suggestion to ask you vet to check her gallbladder. Unfortunately for us by we could not do anything for her gallbladder and she was to old for surgery, but if caught early enough it can be treated. My husband did some reasearch and found out this is fairly common in shelties b/c they normally have high cholesterol. We sre very careful with our new girl to make sure she doesn't get.high fat treats .

Sending only good thoughts and positive vibes for Bitsy :) i'm sure that tooth has her whole system out of whack?

Sending pats and prayers for Bitsy. I agree...I highly recommend adding some milk thistle to her food. It's the miracle supplement for liver issues and wonderful for any dog on antibiotics.

I'll certainly do that. She's feeling much better with the Tramidol.

p.s. I'm not familiar with Tramadol, but I gather it is simply a pain killer?

Bacca is on Milk Thistle supplements (Hepta Support) and it seems to control his liver counts, though still high.

How much and what kind and where do I get it???????? Can you tell I'm responding well to your suggestion?

Also, should I wait for the two-month report to come in???:confused2:

You don't have to wait to use milk thistle, Chris. I give it to my dogs whenever they're on antibiotics or there's any kind of medical issue. It's a great supplement for both liver and kidneys. You can get it many places online. I use the capsules and open one a day and mix it with their food. It also comes in drops but I've always used the pills or powder. It also won't interfere with VP. Thank you Ann and Chris,

I just ordered the capsule form for Eevee also. I really hope this helps both our babies Chris!
