Blue Merle x Blue Merle

Lanie - Sable to Merle breeding is permitted and Sable Merle is an acceptable color (brindle is the only color disqualified outright in the Sheltie Standard I believe) but you rarely see them in the show ring. Why? Because "washed out" color, something you can get with a Sable Merle is a fault so they are very difficult to finish. It's also very difficult to tell a dog is Sable Merle so making the mistake of a Merle->Merle breeding is possible. (This reason is why some countries, like Denmark, ban breeding a Sable to a Merle.)

I think I got my younger dog because sable Merle is sort of unwanted by breeders. The rescue she came from said she was one of only a handful of dogs a breeder in upstate ny was willing to surrender in a potential abuse/hoarding case. He likely gave her up because she wasn't able to be used as a breeder due to being a sable Merle.

I just got the pedigree sheet (only took 3 months!!) and it officially lists Sansa's father "Omega" is a Blue Merle and the mother "Taraba" is a tri.

The only other thing of note is the breeder listed her as "Coconuts" Sorta fitting middle name.
