Wouldn't this be considered fraud? Apart from the obvious loss of animal life due to an unscrupulous management team, they took money under false pretense. If it is proven that this is the case then I hope that a class action suit is brought against "Peanut" and the board of directors. Unfortunately the one that finally stood up and told the truth would also be named. I have to wonder what wording is in the fine print of the surrender documents. "Peanut" is obviously not quick on her feet. She could have said that the chow mix bit another person - guess she isn't too smart. Did she really think that it wouldn't be easy to discover she managed both "shelters"?
As for the Board, of course they are going to try to get themselves clear of this. They, as a group, are also liable.
As for the owner of the chow, when he said they should have called him - well, that is a grey area for me. Unless he had them sign to that effect, he had surrendered his rights to the dog. Very sad, but it is what happens when you give up an animal. I feel bad for him as he tried to do something to give his dog a second chance.
Hopefully, while this is being investigated, no more animals will die because of this woman.
