Brodie and Deacon are back from their GB U/S

Bloodwork came back! Brodie is a tad low in CKP but he said no concern... Deacon's was perfect.

So, if I am understanding your warning.... supplementing with both super snouts and an omega-3 oil might be too much... Decisions, decisions....

Thank you!!!!!

I don’t think giving an animal specific GLM and an oil would be too much.
There is information on this in both the Forever Dog and the Forever Dog Life I do believe.

Not necessarily …. I feed several supplements with omegas. You just have to check the ingredients list for the amount of omega 3 each contains. For a 20 lb dog, 910 mg is about the max you want to safely give. Most don’t have high amounts, I’ve found.

I posted this originally on another thread.... blame vacation brain! Anyway, Sandy I'm late to this but wanted to say I'm so glad the boys are fine. I know it's a pain that we all need to deal with this in our pups, but we MUST be vigilant on their behalf. I was so shocked that my two had such bad GB's without any symptoms or warning. Could have been catastrophic.

They are both on Super Snouts now with a Nordic Naturals Omega-3 with dinner. I don't feed them anything new, one thing at a time, trying to see what might be effective and what doesn't seem to make a difference.

I did read that Omega-3's can help with anxiety (Brodie) and can also be effective for gallbladder in that they can help move bile in and out more effectively. We follow up with Brodie again in 6 months; Deacon gets off until next year.

So, here is a link to the folks at the vet school in North Carolina who are studying mucoceles. It's their email address. Jody Gookin is the contact person. They are looking for Shelties with confirmed mucocele, and then for control, normal Shelties at least 10 years old who have had a normal scan. I reached out to get more info and told them of my two. Looks like they want to review the scans first, then if they concur, they ask you to get a blood sample from your dog and mail it to them. The blood work is not paid for but the mailing is, I think they send you a mailing label.

This is being done through the AKC and ASSA.
