Bush/Shrub Eating??

We have some liriope growing in a bed right outside our front door.

Picture of liriope plant.

Winston would always grab a mouthful at the beginning of walks. Our other dogs never gave it a second look. I think it started off looking like a big tasty patch of grass and then just became a habit. Never figured it out and never got him to stop.

Franklin will spin once (clockwise) and bark when we let him out the back door. Jackson will pick up a twig or a piece of straw and keep it in his mouth while we walk. I thinks it's just one of those things they think they have to do that makes them feel comfortable.

eating weeds/flowers

Chip will try anything at least once. Straw, grass, dead stalks from Hostas. Actually I don't think he is eating them, just tasting while chewing.

BTW: He is the second of our dogs to smell the flowers.:smile2:

Looks like a gold leaf euonymus to me. It does get teeny white flowers in June - well here at least.

Not sure what the shrub is. Thinking its a Sheltie thing, Koffoy is my grass eater to the point I think he is part sheep.

I am laughing at all these stories. Granted it could be dangerous, but I'm glad I'm not alone.

Koji definitely tends to try and eat everything on the ground. Never had him try and eat bushes or shrubs. Now he just lunges at it. Probably because I'm thinking he's going to go for it, so he does. They say we project in our minds and the dogs think that's what we want them to do. Ugh!

He's really enamored with that bush though. Haha.

That is a little odd that it's just that one bush :) Lexi will pull a low-hanging branch off of a tree if she is lounging around in the yard and gets bored. She loves to chew on a stick and they just don't fall off fast enough on their own around here

Makes me wonder if there has been something on this bush, if it is only one. My girls try to eat my honeysuckle - they are good now about it. Natalie is one who wants to break off twigs from my clematis - I have stopped her when I see her. Liam - he just wants to eat grass, or pebbles, or shoes, or whatever I touch - sigh.

I had to share this. So I boarded Koji at this new place. They have land and take the dogs out in the woods (it's a day care also). They shared this photo.

Doesn't he look proud of himself and yet caught red-handed? LOL. The caption they wrote was "Koji taking down the forest, one leaf at a time!"

Love it! He looked like he was having so much fun. He is still exhausted!!!

And obviously, still eating leafy things.

Callan is obsessed with eating all plant life! Nothing in my backyard is safe!

It's making me crazy!

I'm trying to remember "Off 101". Once I had Indy and Bacca trained it always worked. I just don't remember how! :rolleyes2:

Haha. Better figure it out before your backyard is completely bare of any greenery. :)
