C.E.T Enzymatic dental chews recommended for Sandstorm

Karen, I was afraid that was what you were going to say. I was really hoping they would help. I am sure Shelby would do the same. I don’t like to give her greenies for that same reason. She bites a big piece off, it sticks to her teeth and then once she gets it unstuck she tries to swallow the whole piece. So I stick with bully sticks.

oh no! I'm afraid Gavin is pretty dainty in his eating habits. He will break up a treat and drop the bits on the ground and eat them piecemeal.
Does it help if you break the strips up?

No because he would eat them so fast and in order for the chews to benefit the teeth they should be chewed for a period of time

My 6 month old puppy was able to chew greenies and whimzees in a matter of several minutes. They probably last less with a fully grown adult. I doubt how effective these chews are if they are eaten so quickly. In addition, these chews bulk up my puppy’s stool. I stopped giving her chews for the past several days. Her stool became noticeably less and firmer.

My 2 cents worth. When they first came out, I bought the Virbac Enzymatic chews for my pom at my vet's recommendation. They did nothing for her teeth and messed up her digestive system (nasty, messy poops). I think the best thing for dogs' teeth is a raw diet and all natural chews (like dried fish skins, raw bones with meat on them, etc.). Within weeks of putting my dogs on a frozen raw diet, their teeth were completely tartar free - I was amazed.
