Car anxiety leads to vomiting

Quick update. I worked on it really fast for about a week. everyday was treats and car. I started out just going in the car, like we always do. Then another day, start the engine. back out. stay in the parking lot make a circle, drive down the street.

And then the day came for our first big drive. I decided to put her up front with me, seatbelted in, but not in a crate or anything. Um, I fed her treats the entire way (30 mins of treats). No drooling (stress), no vomiting. She wasn't comfy, but was okay. Then we drove home Again, 30 mins of treats, no drooling, no vomiting. Yay!

Then another car trip day. Same set up (which personally, I don't like, but it worked the first time). I fed her less often and then we had a little bit of drooling. I started petting her and the drooling stopped. I only gave her a handful of treats, like when I had to turn sharply, brake suddenly, big loud truck passed us, etc. But yeah, 30 mins of petting. It seemed to work. I haven't had to take her anywhere recently, but am thinking a drive the block might be needed to reinforce all the work I did.

At least there was no vomiting and way less stress. So yay on that.

Great news on your progress. Oreo started out the same way too. Now he never drools or throws up, although he will not sit or lay down. He still stands for the entire car ride....even with a 4 hour car ride he will stand the entire time, lol.
