CC shampoo

I may be very wrong, someone please correct me if I am. My impression from some of the past threads is that the CC shampoos are probably fine for non-show dogs that are not bathed every week, if that is what someone wants to use. It is the waterless shampoo (Show Off for CC, but there waterless shampoos under lots of other brand names) that can leave the residue and maybe Ice on Ice also (or other brand name grooming sprays).

Is that correct?

you are correct! Thats why I posted what I did, as it can get confusing with what barb posted.

The shampoos are fine for "pet" grooming. Either the day to day, clean start or even the spectrum 1. The white on white is good to get those white sparkley too!!

The other CC products such as the ice on ice, Show off waterless shampoo etc are meant for the show circuit! They do produce build up and are meant to be washed out on a regular basis!!

@Barb there is a show grooming section under the handling chat section.

Are you sure about Ice on Ice? (Not trying to argue, just curious). I bathe my dogs VERY infrequently, but use Ice on Ice every time I brush them which is around once a week. I don't think they feel like they have any residue in their fur.

People have been saying the ice on ice was after awhile making them feel sticky....although they didnt say how frequently (or infrequently) they were bathing their dogs. Its marketed as a leave in product though more than the dry/waterless shampoo's..

@Lightplum....didn't mean to confuse.....I suppose I did jump ahead to the other CC products (show off and ice on ice) that I do have experience with. My point was that if you are going to use spray-ins, be prepared for residue and the need to bathe more often.

I apologize if I created confusion.

I guess all I was trying to say is that for non-show dogs, you don't really need to spend alot on shampoos and products. I know there are number of people on the forum that use Mane and Tail that you can get at Walmart and they are happy with it too.

I think the most important factor in choosing a shampoo is knowing your dogs coat condition. For example, Bacca's coat is very dry and his skin is starting to show signs of possible skin allergies. So now, he's getting bathed in hypo-allergnic oatmeal shampoos. Indy's coat is very healthy (same food, btw), but he tends to body odor, so he gets a scented shampoo.

So is White on White a good choice for a non-show Blue Merle ? that will probably be bathed once every couple of months ...

thanks... just need to make a decision soon,, and because i live remote location,, i have to order from somewhere..

It is THE only shampoo I use on Mia. and she obviously is not a show dog. (Blind & deaf)
CC white on white, makes her simply sparkle. I have tried other whiteners, but nothing makes her as white as CC.
I do not use CC at all on the boys. I found it expensive, sprays etc, made a buildup. I do still have a bottle of the waterless shampoo, which comes in handy. But thats it. I simply do not like the product.

I do however use IOD # 16 for bathing, also IOD lush coat for brush outs. No conditioner at all.

To answer yuor question, yes it would certainly work.

yup I use the white on white on the white parts of the dogs...ie Ruff and feet/legs and than use the regular shampoo on the bodies. A bottle of each(16oz) will probably last the average pet owner close to 2 years per dog...

thank you so much..... would it be ok to use on a sable as well ? :biggrin2:

may as well ask..

I have used it on my Trapp. His ruff, legs. And he is a mahogany sable. But for me,with really only his ruff being the largest white area, unless you are willing to do the seperate parts and take you time letting white on white do its thing, then yes it will work just fine. But often,I just use the IOD on them, and not take the time.
With Mia,since she is all white, then its a no brainer, and its the only shampoo I use on her.
