Chiropractor - Ongoing Chloe saga

Dani, that is the best possible news! I'm so happy to hear that there was nothing seriously wrong with Chloe. And what a good little girl she was for the vet! I bet he just loves "clients" like her!

Good luck keeping her still for a few weeks :)

I'm so glad your Friday has turned out so well! Snap had acupuncture a few times for his soft tissue injury and always seemed better afterwards. You could almost see the endorphins kicking in, as he got very sleepy.

Good luck with keeping four on the floor in the meantime.

I glad to hear the xrays were normal.

I forgot this is her front leg. Justice had a lot of stiffness in his left wrist(carpus) for a long time. He tore his flexor tendon 3 yrs ago on Halloween. He recovered well but for the longest time, he would be fine and then too much jumping/running and then limp. It was like this on and off for 2 yrs.

What it came down to was too much resting and then not enough strengthen/conditioning. Like the weekend warrior syndrome. He tends to do a left leg lead so that was always the leg hitting the ground first so that aggravated it. I used to be afraid to let him exercise because I was afraid he hurt himself. It just kept the cycle going.

I think it is a good idea to rest from agility for awhile to let things calm down. NSAIDs as needed. Acupunture would be great. There could even be little tendonitis going on and from researching Justice's issues I found out not too uncommon in shelties.

But hen when you start up again go really slowly and build up muscle conditioning. I found alot of good exercises on a DVD called Strengthening and good ideas for stretching before exercise with Stretching DVD. Both can be found on Clean Run.

It addition the DVD exercises, I did exercises in which I walked Justice in circles right and right to encourage lead changes and get him to change leads. I did 2x as much to the right or right lead as the left. He now will use the right lead more naturally. Walking on the treadmill help too. Peanut ball and balance disks are great too to build core.

My thoughts are with Chloe and you in trying to resolve this. Good luck trying her quiet and not jumping or running:smile2: You might want to hog tie her now.

Acupuncture is a great idea. I myself have gone for acupuncture for pain control and found it very helpful.

Dr. Shelli-
Thanks for all the tips for rehabbing Chloe, I will definitely check them out.

Melissa, Katherine, and Ashley......Thanks so much for all the support and well wishes. We are going to beat this thing. I am confident.

I am having a heck of a time getting Chloe to stay calm on her leg. I have resorted to walking her rather than letting her in the yard. She is MISERABLE. I feel so bad. When she is in the house, she paces. So much energy that she needs to expel.

I am going to call next week about the acupuncture.

I'm sorry she is having these problems hopefully the acupuncture will solve some of this. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.

Ember feels Chloe pain. She is going bonkers. So hard when these active little dogs need rest. :(

My thoughts are with you.

I'm glad the news was good.

Bailey has gone for regular chiro checkups since he was young and Katy has just started accompying him. He thinks he's getting a rub down and since the chiro always has a cookie, he thinks its the best deal ever. Katy still not so sure about the whole thing.
