Citronella collar...

have any of you ever had any luck with them? We got one from a friend and put it on Ross and it won't go off. Not sure if it is the pitch of his bark or the length of his nose? He is an oversized sheltie so he has a long nose Husband and I can bark near it and it will go off!!

I am really tired of his barking when we go in the kitchen, he goes insane almost. We have tried penny cans, clicking and treating before he barks, ignoring him....we don't know what else to do. Funny because the only other things he barks at is the phone and the doorbell. Doesn't bark when people go by, at other dogs.....puzzling.

Thanks,

Leanne

There is a link "Barking" by GardenBlue already going and some people have mentioned their use of the citronella spray on it. I have seen the TV show "It's me or the Dog" where Victoria Stillwell has said she thinks the citronella in the lungs could be a problem. Good Luck!!

I have one and have used it some on my sheltie, Snap when we take neighborhood walks. Sometimes it does not seem to fire consistently. You might want to try to tighten up the collar some and / or reposition it so the mike is near the vocal cords. Also, the directions for mine say that you cannot overfill it.

In Snap's case, the collar seems to be a deterrent. He runs from me when I take it out to put it on him; and the walk is much quieter.
