Claussen is sick please help!

IMHO, the vomit sounds like the rawhide. Yuck. It's one reason I quit feeding it to Miko. It just never sat well with him and it'd come out gooey one end or the other. There are non-rawhide alternatives. Maybe try those instead (I think it's listed under the treat section).

Do you know if your vet will take CareCredit?
I never heard of it before until I went to my specialist. And even then, they didn't advertise it, someone just had suggested it when I was talking to my friend. I had to go ask them about it. Basically it's a credit card and depending on the terms, it may be 6mo no interest, or 1 year, etc.

Figured I'd throw that out. Can't hurt to ask, because if they do take it, makes life sooo much easier.

Thank you all for the input!!! I'm a bit concerned now because he didn't poop at all on our walk-unusual for him. But maybe the yogurt I have him bound him up a bit from all the diarrhea. But he hasn't pooped in over 12 hours now and I'm leaving for work from 2pm-11pm...hope he doesn't have to go while I'm gone! If I can look into care credit..but if they have to do a credit check they'll see I'm maxed out on all my other accounts and probably won't give it to me (yeah...I'm in a financial bind at the moment :uhoh:

I was feeding them the wholesome hide chips, and I've never noticed a problem coming out or vomiting. Claussen is quite tedious, but I think he may have swallowed a chunk of the donut ring rawhide I had got him. Maybe this was the problem. I should have thrown it out. But who knows-I'm interested to see what comes out the other end when he decides to poo. Thanks again for your concern!

I stopped giving rawhide, too, when one day Lexi started coughing and brought up an entire length of it. And she's not one to swallow anything whole! (It was probably 2" wide and 6" long!)
Sca is a rawhide eating machine (I got him the huge St Bernard sized ones) but I just worry to much to give them to him any more. I did get some bully sticks and gave them to the guys last night. Far more money but Sca went to town on his and I had to drop the hammer on him as he was trying to steal Spitfire's (something he knows better than and seldom does). So they must be pretty good. A bit $$$ though

Hope Claussen gets back to 100%

An exam would be best if you can swing it at all...if he's lethargic you gotta find a way to take him to be seen. It's weird, but even the smallest pieces of stuff can cause a problem sometimes...praying it passes and he's back to his old self.

Hope your guy is feeling better soon! I noticed today whilst sitting in the vets office for hours he does care credit as well..good to keep in mind since we seemed to have a bad run here lately...grrrr

How is Claussen doing?

I stopped giving Gavin bully sticks because, without fail, he would end up swallowing it when it was down to about 2-3 inches. the next morning he would throw it up. I decided to stop pushing my luck, cause you never know when that one time it doesn't come up is going to happen!

Update***

Well, I took Claussen out for one more chance to poop before I left for work at 2pm (10 hours ago). I got home a half hour ago and found a very happy and HUNGRY Claussen. Never seen him eat his food that fast. He's energetic and happy. But-HE WON'T POOP. He hasn't pooped now in 24 hours. He's a twice a day dog. I had him out at all his favorite spots today and tonight and no poopage. He's certainly not lethargic so I guess I will give it another day and see what happens : /

Fingers crossed that everything resolves itself today. Now that I realize I have Claussen's grandma and grandpa, I feel attached. :)

As an aside, I'm afraid of rawhides. I gave my sweet little girl one that would have taken a big dog hours to chew; I turned my back and two minutes later, it had vanished. I was terrified that she would choke or that it would cause a blockage, and although there were no ill effects, I'm not doing that again.

Unlike rawhides bully sticks are supposed to be digestible.

Hope Claussen does his business soon so he is totally back to normal :fl

You will find after they have been vomiting, they don't have a bowel motion. This is normal. Give him a day or so and he should be okay.

No way!! You have both his grandparents? How did you end up with both?! That's awesome!!

I am staying away from the rawhides now unless I am able to supervise them 100%. But the whole idea of rawhides was to keep them entertained while being crated while I am at work. Antlers weren't a hit at all-they didn't even give them a lick. But, it's not like they make noise in their crates while I'm gone..I'll just start giving them a few chewable treats instead.
