Clocking Ticks

I have three of mine on the Nature's Guardian/Defense stuff and except for Pixie, we haven't done too badly with ticks. Checkers is on Frontline since being a show dog, she gets lots of baths and you can bathe them on Frontline. Pixie has the thickest coat of any of them and for some reason, she's the tick magnet. Barkley and Ivy haven't had any. I agree with Jan...I just lay them on the couch and do an allover really good scratch to find the little buggers...trouble is it's REALLY hard to find the deer ticks. All I find are the dog ticks. And we've had a number of frosts but every time it thaws they're back!

I found a great tool for removing ticks last year at my vet's office. Looks like tweezers but has a little round scoop (like two small measuring spoons) at the ends. It really gets the whole tick out easily.

I want a pair of those. That is the digusting-est part:uhoh:

It makes my skin crawl when the tick wiggles in my fingers as I am trying to pull it off.:dead::dead::dead:

We are having a terrible tick season here in Syracuse. I do a tick check every night and it takes me about 30 - 40 minutes. Last night I found five. I find some EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! I can't wait for the first frost.

tick problems in Syracuse? I thought it was colder up there. I better do some tick checks on Bailey. I've never had tick problem with my dogs. Are they usually on the skin or on the fur?

Caught when they first get on the pup, the tick will be on the fur, but they are headed for the skin. In the city, and I get the impression you are "in the city" you shouldn't see that many.

Cleveland got them in the tall grass, fields, pastures and meadows when we are at my in laws (major, major out there in the boonies). Here "in town" we don't see that many.

Still never hurts to check. They will feel like a little pin head attached to the skin, that will kind of flip back and forth, but won't release.

I've got something similar which I got at the vet after we found a tick on Bacca. I now carry it with me to the cottage every weekend, just in case.

I know, I have been twitching all evening now, and MMM has been thoroughly checked over fuzzy head to furry tail.

Yes, we're having a terrible tick problem here. I live right by Syracuse University and we see all kinds of deer and wild animals in our neighborhood. I'm told they will last until the first frost. I can't wait for that day.

Poor Chris and Fur Kids

Oh man, that's so frustrating! I felt frustrated when I found a few ticks on Sadie when we were using Sergent's Nature's Guardian, I can't even imagine what it would be like picking 80 off of her!

I hope it gets cold enough to kill the ticks soon!

In my area I'm told we're experiencing the worst flea explosion ever, which Sadie discovered about a month ago, but she's been fine since we started using Advantage. Not sure what we're going to do for the ticks in the spring though.
