Both of the scenarios above sound like me and my 4 month old sheltie. Ha ha he's totally food obsessed too and he runs from me when given the chance. My daughter and I must've looked like fools chasing him around when we first got him. He's so quick and can turn on a dime! But I've too have resorted to the " I'm running away!" technique. I have to wait until he gets really close and snatch him before he can run away again. I swear he's laughing the whole time. Lol also, my new name for him is heel nipper. He loves to run by and nip at my ankles! Uhg!

Just a friendly word of caution on letting him nip heels.
It can seem cute/funny in a little pup, but it is not something you want to encourage. Even as a pup his nip could break skin, especially on a child, and cause a serious issue for you. The heel nipping is a natural working trait in a herding dog but it should never be directed at a human.
