Maybe you could get her involved in UKC too! My daughters (6 & 9) are loving the show ring :wink2: Makes hubby much happier that I am with the kids and we get to do a family thing! Also, UKC allows someone to help the little ones in the ring until they are 9 and up to that point all get a first place ribbon!

I also had a well known judge tell me that prick ears didn't bother her at all! I'm pretty certain the tail wouldn't be a problem either....I had to show a dog that had the whole side (show side of course) chewed down almost to the skin by another dog the night before the show!!!
 
It's a nonlicensed class, and you'd have to check with the individual show, but both UKC and Internation (IABCA) allow you to show in classes with a spayed/neutered dog *IF it's offered at the specific show*. However, I don't think it counts toward a championship. I think it works about like the puppy 3-6 month class, where they can be shown, and can get placements, but can't earn a championship from it.

Barb, I'm not sure how many UKC shows they have in Canada, but they do have them there. Not much of the schedule seems to be up yet on the UKC site, but there's an obedience show listed for Canada, so there should be some conformation in the future as well.

Sherri, I'd love to meet up with you all for a show. It's always more fun to go with several people than just by yourself. I'm trying to drag my friend into coming to the upcoming UKC shows as well. The Wapa show in November was her first conformation show, and now she wants to finish her girl.

I would agree you can get away with the ears. My friend put her male in who has very very bad hound ears against mine over the summer to help get me competition wins thinking he couldn't win because of his ears, and then he went ahead and won anyway!

I really don't know alot about UKC, but it seems to me to be a great way to socialize - ourselves and our pups!

I'm going to research it here in Canada, but if any of you find out anything about it here, I would greatly appreciate it!

Bacca may have hound ears, but he has the most fantastic trot! He really struts his stuff! And his red sable colour is very different as well. I think he could do well (if, and only if, I could get him to pay attention to ME!)

That would be great!!! If you know of any coming up in your area around April, let us know, because nothing is showing up yet. :smile2: I'm planning to bring Chief and Pres when we do meet up!
 
Sounds great ladies! It will be a fun time! I am really looking forward to it. I will be working on my tri girl from Winddancer this year.
