Collie Eye

We have three kinds of cones in our retinas and dogs have only two, so they have what I would call 'extreme' red/green color blindness. I teach about color blindness in my biology courses,

interesting....my daughter has Achromatopsia...lack of cone vision.

I have to add this one tidbit. There is an ap :biggrin2: for Android called 'dog vision'. It looks through your smart phone's camera and shows what the camera sees as a dog would see it with respect to color. We have three kinds of cones in our retinas and dogs have only two, so they have what I would call 'extreme' red/green color blindness. I teach about color blindness in my biology courses, so I will definitely be using it in class. And, when I go to the pet store, I'm going to look at dog toys that way to see what 'pops' for my furry one. Just because it pops for me doesn't mean it will for her! :smile2:

interesting....my oldest daughter has Achromatopsia (no cone vision) and is legally blind
