Colonel Underpants is Going to School

THEN AGILITY after obedience :)

speaking of chest puffed out, thinking he's a 75 pound Rottie... Toffee does all of the above, too So much better since Agility and LOTS of socializing.. Funny thing is he still knows who is IN class and god forbid a new dog and person show up! LOL
He goes up and doesn't bark at classmates anymore. We had a break through of him getting real cuddle sessions from his girlfriend's owner while we were sitting while others did exercises... SO CUTE to see him putting his muzzle under her elbows and scooching his butt to her legs in order to get loving

I would never want my dog to run up to people anyways. We met this guy at our beach this summer, he had a really nice dog who Sandstorm liked. Sandstorm was a bit stand-offish toward the guy and backed up just a step when he held out his hand. The guy asked me twice if my dog was socialized! I said yes, and then told him Sandstorm was not friendly when meeting new people. And that's the way I want it!!

But he is so timid with new people, and he's afraid of strange dogs. He does the whole fear-aggression bluff thing, which isn't very attractive. I sure hope this helps. Of course, we love him no matter what, but I think Beckon would be happier if he had more confidence.

Sandstorm and I were just having a conversation about Colonel Underpants today, and Sandstorm thinks that he should come over here instead of going to school. SS told me that since they are both big dogs and not puppies anymore, they could have more fun together than at school. I tried to explain that Colonel Underpants lives very far away, and Sandstorm looked at me, cocked his head, and groaned.

Yeh, it sucks the sacrifices we make for our pups!

I took my pups out for a walk last night in the snow.....I'll tell you my legs were BURNING from the walk. Walking in snow is very different from a stroll down the walk. This was actually EXERCISE! :eek2::eek2:

Why can't they just hibernate in the winter? :lol:

This is so true, Barb.

We did many obedience and rally classes with our rescue, Vinca. It wasn't until my daughter started taking agility classes with her that she started to come out of her shell. She is a completely different dog now.
 
Any kind of out of their realm of comfort is good for them!! or atleast thats what I tell the dogs, they may not agree with me!! :lol:

I think after the holidays my mom is taking Tucker (her dog) to obedience classes...I think its great for both of them.

She wants me to do agility with Six...I just dont know how well that will go..He has one speed...superfast!:eek2::uhoh:
 
hmm, starting New Year between Che and Leo they are in 6 classes weekly... do you think that enough for socializing?:lol:
yet, no matter how many classes Che took, he will be reserved with strangers/ breed trait/ and jump at people he likes/ my DH and BIL thinking "its cute"/
Changing whatever qualities is a concentrated effort and requires consistency most of all, setting up a goal and working on it little bit every day is the way to go IMHO
gotta say that Che knows EXACTLY when he arrives to his training facility, we could make many stops during the trip and he would peacefully nap but the moment we arrive- he is up and ready to go... I think he likes his classes:wink2:
 
Wishing Colonel underpants a fun time in class. You can also take him place with you but sure you do that already. Will be good for him to be out with other dogs. Keep us posted.
