We give the VP at every meal; they get the 30 mg CoQ10 pill with breakfast and Pixie also gets her Cosequin then. I give a teaspoon of coconut or krill oil with the evening meal.
I tried the laser treatments on Pixie too for a while. You're right...way expensive and after about 2 months didn't seem effective. My vet suggested trying the Adequan shots which I was familiar with from having horses. It works well for some, not for others. I had tried it on one of our Shelties years ago and it didn't seem to help him, but I do think it helps Pixie. I get it from ValleyVet Supply and it's pretty reasonable.
I'm never sure exactly which of these helps her most, but I do know that so far I've been able to keep her off of pain meds, which my vet is shocked at. He thought she'd be on daily pain med by now, so something (or all of it combined) is working. I want to keep her off meds as long as possible. Since I added the CoQ10 to her diet, she's been more lively and energetic so I'm really happy about that.
