Crying triggers

Thanks to all for your replies. (I've been offline due to computer problems.)

It's just so hard...

This morning I was crying like a baby. I am decorating our Christmas tree, and since 1989, we have had an ornament for each puppy the year they are born, or the year they came to us. These are usually the Hallmark dog picture ornaments. I have written their names on the back, because so many of our puppies look alike at that age. Anyway, with holiday music playing, I am unwrapping each one...Maggie....Jenney.... Markie...our angels. So sweet and full of hope. Annie, Gemmy, Linus, Daisy as little wee ones. Now, seniors.
The time goes by so quickly.

Aw geeze. This is just kind of a hard time of year. I lost it this morning listening to "I'll Follow You Into The Dark" on the radio... "There's nothing to cry about/'cause we'll hold each other soon..."

I love all of our puppy ornaments. Thanks for making them, Mom.

You two have me crying too. My mom would have done something like that if she had thought of it. What memories to treasure.

Good grief, it seems that everything makes me cry:

The other day I heard a new song with lyrics like "if you were gone ... I'd be lost without you" - that made me cry.

On TV, I flipped by the end of a modern Lassie movie, and that made me cry.

(Yes, I know that Shetland Sheepdog has been a separate and distinct breed for many many, years.)

Among many other things, my boy was a furry little hero who would have given his life to protect me. One time, there was loud crash outside the door, and I had a startled expression on my face. He rushed to the door, and barked in a really, really, angry tone of voice. He wasn't about to let anybody hurt dad.

Yes, Sheltie's are great protectors!

What an amazing idea!

The other day I was watching John Lennon performing the song "Stand By Me" on YouTube, and I ended up with tears running down my face, thinking of my precious boy supportively standing by my side.

Song lyric:

"I won't cry, I won't cry
No, I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me"
