Deska failed his test

They did the same thing in my training class. We were training "come"with distractions. A bowl of steak can you imagine. Not one of the dogs made it past the bowl without at least stopping for a sniff. They say our dogs did pretty well though as in the previous class one of the dogs picked the bowl up and carried it to its owner. None of our dogs went that far. Thank heavens they didn't do that in the exam.So sorry Deska couldn't resist the temptation but there's always hope for next time.

I have to admit that I was chuckling when I read this too! Don't worry, Marlie would have been right there with Deska. I hope that your headache is gone today and I know that Deska will get it another day! Just laugh or you'll go insane!! :biggrin2:

Poor Deska -- what a test! That just doesn't sound fair to me. Don't give up on obedience trialling - there's no food bowls involved there, thank heavens!

Oh, I'm sorry if I'm still laughing as I type this. Poor Deska! What an impossible challenge. I know Indy would never had made it either, little chow hound that he is.

Teaching him the wait command is an excellent idea. I've been meaning to start this with Indy to get him to stop lunging at food and treats.

Sounds like Deska had other things on his mind.....like the food bowl? I admit, I too chuckled. That would've been Koji, happy dance and all. Don't worry, maybe next time. At least now you know what to use as a distraction, food. Good luck with that. I wish I could've seen him inching his way to the bowl.

You are a great storyteller! Sorry for the "failure" but Deska passed the entertainment test with flying colors--both for the spectators and for all of us on this forum. I'm sure things will go better next time, after a bit more training and practice. You are brave to attempt it!

I'm late in catching up on threads from the weekend. I can't say that I blame Deska one bit for going for the food on a dreary, cold day !
