Diatomaceous Earth For Fleas & Internal Parasites.

I had a trail and clumps of ants near my front door the other day and before I left for work I put some DE (ok, quite a bit of it - little hills of DE) over parts of the trail and on the clumps. (I also told them that if they didn't leave by the time I came home they'd sorely regret it!)

When I came home during lunch, they were gone! There were a few stragglers but almost all of them disappeared.

I don't know if they actually died (no ant carcasses), but they certainly didn't like it enough to evacuate the house!

Interesting article, Dr. Mac, thanks! I also found plain old table salt a very effective way to get rid of ants. Just sprinkle it around the outside of the house or deck, in backs of cabinets etc. I've even put it under heating vents. The ants are gone, poof! Fabulous stuff. I've been doing it so long I can't recall where I read about it.

I've used DE to get rid of them outside too, but never indoors. I may have to try that this year.
 
salt for ants, very interesting. Will have to try that one. I have stopped using table salt- heard they really use a chemical to get it white so I use sea salt now so I have almost a whole container if regular salt. They don't like bleach either.
 
after looking this up online, and reading and reading about it, I have decided to get it. There is something in our apartment that is eating my husband up. We don't think it is bed bugs but not sure what it is. Also, we will be using it on the dogs and the cats for flea and tick prevention. We will be sprinking it over all the cloth furniture, beds, carpets, everywhere. My daughter in law lives with us and she is 7 1/2 months pregnant. I will have to make sure she is out of the house while this is being applied, and whoever applies it will have to wear a mask while they are doing it. Right now we are using a rosemary mint spray mixed with lavender, and also a few drops of it between the dogs shoulder blades and at the base of their tail. My husband and I, and the dogs, are also taking garlic tablets. Hubby and I are taking 6000 mg of garlic softgel daily, Summer is a 60 lb lab mix, and she is taking 4000 mg of garlic softgel daily, and Alex is taking 500 mg of garlic softgel daily.

We will be going to Lowe's to get this tomorrow.

If they suggest worming you puppy, use this instead. It's totally safe to feed as it's in bisquick and flour and things like that. It helps rid them of worms. Mine eat it daily, and I need to start back again. When I ate it, my nails got sooo strong and my hair grew so fast! It's an amazing thing that has so many benefits rolled into one!
