DIY Built-in Dog Kennel Under the Stairs!

That's awesome! Have you taught him to use the dimmer switch yet on his own?

DH built an endtable crate for Olive when we first got her as a break-into-woodcraft project but I bet he would love a project like this (I don't think our landlords would, even if they used to live here with their dogs :biggrin2:)

A private den all his own...you did an absolutely wonderful job...it looks great and obviously your little guy totally loves his new space.

And, wow, has he grown since you shared the little puppy pics of him in the bathtub!! He is one handsome, happy lad.

Love it! Of course I could not have that as Spitfire having it would like giving an evil villain a secret lair :rolleyes2: he would never come out.

A great idea, what a luxury suite to Benji.

But must say that your work is so meticulously, absolutely fantastic.:yes::yes:

Thank You! LOL he's bumped the switch with his nose before and it dimmed, but i dont think he got the connection. We'll have to work on that

That is an awesome Sheltie space! Fantastic use for what can normally be wasted space in the house.

Thanks Silaria! Yes, It's totally wasted space that can be used, and the perfect size for a medium sized dog!

Hi Trini! Thank You our cats are super jealous and he has no problem rubbing it in lol! But yes you remember how small he was? He has grown, and become a very good and fun loving puppy citizen :smile2:

Haha! Kenji sleeps in there through the night, but in the day time, he'll pop in for a nap or two (because its a few degrees cooler in there), but the rest of the day he's just pulling out his toys and spreading them around the house like a spoiled kid

Amazing job........very impressive.

ps Benji is a very handsome boy.

Thanks Mally's Mom, but don't say that too loud, it might go to his head. Kenji already loves looking and playing in the mirror!

Why thank you Hanne! I'll tell you a secret, If that project would've went south, my wife would have buried me in the backyard next to one of Kenji's old toys LOL

Michael, this is the most impressive Sheltie-Dad project ever! You're a true craftsman -- your family must be so proud of you! Thanks for sharing this incredible work. I think you're going to wind up in Architectural Digest -- or at the very least, on Pintrest!

WOW! I wish I had stairs in my house just so I could do that. Just amazing!

Thanks Brittany! I've seen some pretty cool kennels disguised as end-tables on pinterest, I also saw a few who built it into the kitchen island! It's some pretty creative stuff out there!
