Do dogs blow their coat the first year?

Probably different bloodlines mature at different time. I actually hoped Sparkle would keep her puppy coat a little longer. She was such a cute puppy with the fuzzy puppy coat. I had thought she’d become a pure sable before her adult coat grew out. Her father is more reddish. And I never met her mother. She turned out to be a mahogany sable.

She definitely has a thick coat. I think Devon may end up being colored like her as he has that same sort of multicolored coat with everything from light nearly straw colored hair to black, but not near as thick. However, I thought that would be considered a shaded sable rather than a mahogany sable since it was a mixture of lighter and darker hair, and that a mahogany sable (like Baron in the avatar photo) had uniform colored dark hair on the outer coat except the places on the face and legs where tan is present, and of course except for the white hair.
