Mine did not blow their coats and they were the same age when spring hit. I assumed it was because they'd only just lost their puppy coat (around 5mths).
Can you tell Mr D didn't blow his coat first year?

Baron (avatar photo) only blew his coat once in his entire life, when he was two years old. Prior to blowing his coat he had an average coat and he was a medium sable color. After blowing his coat he became a mahogany sable and his coat was absolutely magnificent until I had to have him neutered due to prostate problems when he was six years old. Groomers would routinely charge me extra to do him because of how thick his coat was and how long it took to do.

I really like the colour of her coat - when Minnie was 8 mth old she did not have such a nice coat at all

Probably different bloodlines mature at different time. I actually hoped my girl would keep her puppy coat a little longer. She was such a cute puppy with the fuzzy puppy coat. I had thought she’d become a pure sable before her adult coat grew out. Her father is more reddish. And I never met her mother. She turned out to be a mahogany sable.

Not sure. The photos were taken at the doggie daycare/boarding house she stayed at. Her friends there are owned by others.

What an adorable girl! Such a thick coat!
Finnie at a year and a half has half that coat and I'm thinking he's starting to blow his, gave him a bath yesterday and over the course of the evening (I brush him several times as his fur dries when it's hot) I got enough fur out for 2 dogs!
Piper was like your girl, he had a beautiful coat by 8 months and never blew it.

Interesting how different each dog is! I am curious how my dog’s coat will fare after her first heat. I plan to have her spayed after her first heat.
