Experiences with chronic renal failure

It is so great that others take the time to relate their experiences to guide us when we need support with information or emotional!

Your post got me thinking...

is gallbladder disease related to kidney failure in dogs?

My Chance is on medicine for his gall bladder. I lost my previous sheltie to this and want to do everything possible to delay any onset of symptoms. I have him tested every 6 months for blood work.

Is it OK to feed a high protein diet to dogs with gall bladder issues??

When we are proactive about our beloved pets care it helps us know were are doing everything possible for them! We are so lucky to live in an age that we can share our experiences with others in this type of forum!

Keep us posted on how the new diet goes... :fl:hugs

Subq fluids

We are giving our dog sub Q fluids for renal failure since 11/25/2015. Just until today he was doing really good. (He turned 11 12/2015).

So, it can definitely improve their life. In fact, he ate healthy, went for walks, ball, and everything else he enjoyed. We had to give him 300mg a day.

Yesterday we could only get 200mg in (had to do it with my son, normally I do it with my wife). But he did a really good job. It's just we couldn't give him the 100mg until after 11:00. He was sick the entire day.

Hopefully we didn't just screw his kidneys up more today. We gave him 300mg at night.
