Experiences with having savings instead of pet insurance?

Years ago, when I was a kid, pet insurance did not exist! Heck, they would just say... it is just a pet!

Now that human quality health care is available for our pets the costs can be exhorbeftent. Just coming off the loss of three in a row that passed and had extensive medical needs... it was necessary to consider pet insurance at this time.

I always thought it was a scam! Just have enough money in reserve and you will be fine. Now I know better... with multiple dogs I needed a backup plan!

Personal choice for sure..,

Gosh I can't imagine having more than one dog at a time. One is already a huge task. Sorry for your loss! How old were they?

Thanks for the kind words of comfort. Two were 13 and one was 14. My heart still aches for them. Miss them to this day. I was blessed to have them in my life and I am grateful for that. Never having kids I guess they became my substitute.
My first sheltie was a female. Once she passed I was so devastated that I swore never again to only have one dog. The others always comforted me. That’s why I need more than one!

I went with Healthy Paws right as Theon got kennel cough from daycare.
