Extreme Fur Loss

I don't suppose there's been any improvement in Bailey's fur?

Unfortunately, not much change. Still has little to no fur on the top of neck. I've been putting a bandana on her when she goes outside so she doesn't get sunburned. She does still grow fur on her feet and needs a trimming every few weeks. And I actually had to spend an hour brushing out mats from the fur on the back of her front legs. But everywhere else she continues to lose fur.

I'm just leaving her alone. I don't know what else to do. She's happy, eating, drinking, barking, playful, normal BM's, doesn't have sores and is not itchy. She hasn't had a neurological episode since the winter (knock on wood). Just losing all her fur.

I'm so sorry you haven't been able to find a solution to Bailey's fur loss, Randi. I'm glad she's healthy and happy in all other respects but how frustrating for you. Just a thought...have you tried contacting Dr. Jean Dodds to see if she has any experience with this? She's easily reached on email through her website and is always willing to offer help and suggestions.

Hey Ann, I did contact Dr. Dodds a while back. She said it wasn't thyroid related. It is very likely from elevated sex hormones and to increase her melatonin dosage.
