When nothing else worked, a behaviorist told us that he should just ignore her totally. Not look at her when she was in the room or speak to her.

Yes...the no eye contact and ignoring are spot on...good that you added that Ann.

These little ones can be a real mystery at times...if only they could tell us what they are feeling and why it would be so much easier for us to know how to help them.

So, how about an update?

I like the suggestion of going into the room for a while with her supper. If that isn't working, then up the steaks, and find some sort of super treat that she would kill for, like tueky, ham, cooked hamburger, etc.

And, my suggestion would be if he's going into the room, lay on the floor with a pillow and read or surf the net.
I've found many, many dogs which are skittish or scared are much less so if you go down or even below their level.
