Eye Redness

Dash (age 11, blue merle) has a slightly red eye. The white is a bit pink and the third eyelid showing. He did stick his head in a prickly bush yesterday chasing a squirrel. It does not bother him and he is not bothering it at all. There's no discharge or tears or anything else. It bothers ME, though! Would you leave it or see the vet? We had this similar issue w/ Timmy (age 10, bi-black), and his third eyelid makes itself known every so often from allergies and his was vet-checked b/c it bothered him. We did drops for him (I have none left) but it went away on its own and the drops didn't seem to help. I just worry about infection. The idea of waiting a few days makes me nuts! :ick Guess we'll wait until morning, although our vet is not open on Sunday except for an emergency, which this is not. Thanks! :smile2:

I just love it when i can ask and answer a question quickly! Lol just keep an eye on it i'm sure you'll do whats best

Thanks....It just makes me crazy and of course, we are going camping in 2 weeks and the dogs are coming, too. No time for illness! :wink2:

When clients call into our veterinary hospital with eye questions/symptoms we always have eye issues come in that day, especially if it is red, third eyelid, swollen/ seeping and since you know he ran into a thorn bush...

Yep what she said. Eyes are nothing to mess with. If he put his face in a prickly bush he may have scratched his cornea. Easy to treat if dealt with early can turn into a mess in a short time.
