Female Incontinence

Thanks for the advice everyone. I really thought it was a UTI, and she seemed to improve when we put her on the meds on Monday for a bit. It's strange though, she was leaking in her bed at night which led me to believe it was incontinence. Now she isn't doing that, but she's squatting and doing small puddles in the house. And yes, when she goes outside she is hitting many places for long periods of time. Does that mean it's stones? That sounds more serious and complicated, I'm sure. I have been playing phone tag with my vet but will talk to him on Monday.

I feel so bad for her. She was always the one who could go forever without going out and I can tell she's not happy. :(

I sure hope it turns out to be a case of a stronger antibiotic is needed. Why is it that these things always happen when the vet is closed..ugh! (lol).. Did you say the doc gave her anything for pain/discomfort? I would imagine she's not very comfortable at all??

Actually, she's not too bad. Eating, playing...I can tell she's not herself, but doesn't seem to be in pain. I am hoping we caught this before whatever it is got too too bad. My vet put her on Cipro last Monday for 14 days, so she's still on that. I just hope this doesn't require another surgery....the poor thing has had two this year already. Of course she's the one of my three that I don't have health insurance on....ouch!

Elaine, Ivy and Tasha/Eyore have a lot in common. We call Ivy Wade the Duck from the Garfield cartoons our kids used to watch. He was always the one hiding because the sky was falling. That's Ivy :uhoh: Thanks for the good thoughts!

It sounds like it might be stones if she's moving spot to spot. My Tasha, had difficulties with incontinence but it was due to a tumor pressing on her bladder. Poor Tasha , AKA, Eyore, due to her poor me face. Poor dear couldn't help the leakage so we bought Washable doggie diapers. They helped keep the house clean but poor Tasha didn't like them much. When I discussed this with the vet we did the urine test and she did have a slight UTI so she gave her antibiotics for the UTI and and Metcam for the inflamation of the tumor and It stopped the leakage for almost 6 months. Tasha was 13, at the time.
Please keep us informed as to how things go for Ivy. Hugs from Kia.

Callie always pee-walks- the sheltie rescue people told me that a lot of shelties go that way. She poo-walks too. might make it hard for us to tell if there's something else going on. The only times that she has gone in the house, she has had a UTI. we just got that cleared up actually. :smile2:

Tully pee and poo walks - its a nuisance when I have to follow her around with a poo bag. I think she does it to keep it off her skirts, I know sometimes the poo gets a little stuck on fur and she walks to dislodge it. Recently she added a little leg lift with the squat to keep the pee off her.

I meant if she was walking to piddle but not producing the pee-pee .:o My Jewel was a walker for both as well. Kia is only a poo walker. Oh some of the subjects we get into !
Laurie, That eeyore expression is priceless isn't it.

My Sweetie will drop down and scoot across the grass with both legs up around her ears to wipe her butt after getting poo on her pants. She only will do this when she has loose stools. I cant stop laughing watching my fluff ball tear across the yard. At first I thought she was having trouble with her anal glands so I checked them and they are good. She just wants to keep clean so mommy dont put her in the tub! Just thought you ladies could use a laugh!:lol:
