Finnie has a diagnosis!

I'm curious to know if many dogs in this line had issues with front or rear legs, I've heard it's inherited. Piper it was the shoulder (fortunately no issues since it healed over 2 1/2 years ago) and now Finnie his hock.
I do know that Laureate had neutered Ch Laureate Be My Guest (Piper's sire) and Piper's breeder was quite shocked. (He may have been a GCh after, not sure). Makes me go hmmmm...
 
He sure is being a good boy and wearing it without protest! He is such a handsome lad!

Finnie is SUCH a good boy! I don't give him credit enough but when they're waiting for supper for example Finnie will be standing patiently waiting while Piper is jumping and barking lol.
It's just anything outside of his 'safe' zone that he is a handful.
 
Well it's been almost 2 weeks since we saw the vet and Finnie is coming along nicely. He's still not jumping on the bed (I'm following his lead) but is doing the stairs outside nicely (not racing up them) and is exploring the yard more (for almost 3 months he's been doing his business in a roughly 6 ft x 6 ft area). We had a beautiful day yesterday, snow melting like crazy and he was actually wandering around the yard! So nice to see (I think his sore hock made it painful for him to walk on the uneven surfaces).
I have a computer chair that every now and then he's decided that he wants to lay in it so he will jump onto it and yesterday we were going out and as I opened the car door he jumped into it before I had a chance to stop him!
The best thing of all of course is that he's starting to play with Piper again❤️! I'm so happy to watch them play tug...a month ago I couldn't get him to play with Piper (and I think Piper was going a bit crazy from not playing with Finnie) and now watching them play...Piper likes to grab the toy and tease Finnie, turning his head left and right to prevent Finnie from grabbing the toy:ROFLMAO:. He's not 100% yet and too much exuberance from Piper will cause him to run to me and hide but that's ok...he knows his limits and I'm not pushing him.
He starts physio on the 18th of March so hopefully I'll get some exercises for him and we can get started on his rehab.
I would never have thought that what seemed so innocuous when he was running after a ball in December would end up being an injury that we're still dealing with in March!

Last week Finnie stayed home on Monday while I took Piper to his obedience mat time /Rally class and it was soooo nice to only have one dog to work and deal with! I'd forgotten how easy it was lol.
My mom told me don't get used to it lol so tomorrow I take both but first I have to take my car in (with both dogs, soft crate and bag of obedience stuff) and use their shuttle to take us to building where we do our obedience work(5 minutes away) and then get them to pick us up! Not going to be fun doing that with both dogs!

Thanks Gloria! It is good to see him improving at last!

It's so funny though how he's changed since a pup. If I play with Piper a little too rough (in his eyes) then he'll squeeze between the two of us and either block Piper or (if I'm on the bed) lay down right beside me. He's just so empathetic it absolutely amazes me. It's like he uses his calm energy to calm us down. I've never had a dog that had so much empathy and uses it in the way he does. I just love this sweet boy.
