First Bath after Abdominal surgery?

Actually, they will probably know everything but the name "poop chute". When I had my shelties, I went through a few battles with diarrhea and decided that clippers were the only way to go! I had never heard about anyone else doing it until I got on this forum. I imagine all long haired dogs have the same problem! Have fun!!

I know either yourself or someone else posted the answer already, but what kind of clippers to you use for the poop chute? I only have very tiny trimmer that I use on their feet. No good on the long hair.

And my attempt at scissoring the poop chute was a disaster!

I have a little trimmer forget it, I agree. Someone posted they bought a lady's trimmer, and that is what I bought too. It works fine, except I had fear to get too close, that I would burn butts. I use a scissors the rest of the way. I think we posted about silky vs coarse, and I have both types. The diva has coarse hair, if she wouldn't walk when she poops we wouldn't be going through this. She has never had the runs, just moist shaped tootsie rolls hanging from her coat. Getting better though, at least she squats to take a pee.

Thanks to the poop chute we don't have problems anymore. It takes me quite awhile to groom them, but I can't trust the groomers around here, its worth the time to me.

Poop Chute, encore!

I dropped the boys off at the groomers a couple of hours ago and am holding my breath to see what they do to them!

I must admit I was instantly more at ease when we were discussing what needed to be done. She suggested trimming around the bum - I said, "Yes! Definitely! We need poop-chutes!" She burst out laughing! She said that's she calls them that too, and never met another person who knew what that meant!

Will let you all know how they turn out when I pick them an hour from now!

A grooming success!

Boys both back from groomers! And both a little over-stimulated! Indy's first act was to poop and make a mess of his behind! But a proper poop chute and Oil of Olay Face Wipe and he's as good as new! (yeah, still forgot to get the baby wipes!)

The groomer knew what she was about. Nice job on their feathers (except for one big oops on Bacca's front leg....he must have moved just as she was snipping - big, big hole!) . But the ears look good and they smell so clean!

Now there's fur flying everwhere! Love the post-bath fur fly!

Glad they came back in such good shape. To do the "poop chute" myself, I just bought some cheap dog clippers from Wal-Mart. I now own some "professional" grade clippers, because our Bichon needs hair clipping all over, but I think the cheap ones are fine for a sheltie. Pretty much all you have to clip is the "l l" , although I used to take a little bit off on the back of the tail (next to the butt) so that the tail wouldn't get dirty too. Happy Days!!

I would be happy to, except every time I bring out the camera, the silly pups get super silly! They just run up to the camera stick their noses into it. I try to do "stealth camera" but they even hear me turning the camera on and there they are!
