That’s why my bedroom carpet is going outside and I’m using diatomaceous earth on the dogs (as well as whatever I get at the vet tomorrow.)
And I’m doing a major deep cleaning of my house! I bathed all 3 dogs, stripped 2 beds now, put diatomaceous earth on the downstairs carpet, took a few boxes out for giveaway. Now I’m going to do the flea comb in the dogs head/ ears and back end and last but not least I’m cleaning my carpet, lifting my mattress (so I can take the carpet out) , removing carpet and vacuuming upstairs. Then I have to mop and make the bed…….then I’ll start all over again :ROFLMAO:

As others have said what a bummer. I lived in Fla for number of years and we could never control fleas for longer than a month- poor dog. Fleas are in the environment thanks to squirrels and chipmunks, dogs on dog walks, etc so the pups will continue to get reinfected.. I never found homeopathic or other simple things really worked. I hate systemics but curse them as I may they are the best way to control fleas- if they bite they die or become sterile either way it keeps the indoor population down. We used to use flea bombs when the house pop was blooming (presystemics) there were very effective for about a month- tho they do leave something behind you can't detect it or see it nor does it bother the dogs or cats. But yeah you have to have all mammals out of the house for a couple of hours-- plants are OK.. It is a hormone that affect the flea reproductive cycle not mammals including us.. We found that topicals did not work as well on long furred dogs like Shelties.

I’ve never ever EVER lol had a dog with fleas. Maybe I’ve just been lucky??? I honestly didn’t think we even had an issue with them here. I may give the flea bombs a try given what you’ve said woof. At the very least all the cleaning I’ve done will make the bomb work better.
Question for you….where do you buy them? Home Depot? A pest control company?
 
OMG - eeeewwwww! I am SO allergic to flea bites, if I am ever near fleas, I think they prefer me to animals. I would call a pest control company, tbh, but that's just me. Fleas can be difficult to eradicate and at least with a company, you can fall back on something if it doesn't work. You'll need to treat everything inside and out. You can get them online or at most pet stores. Home Depot and Amazon both have them. Just be sure to read the label so you know what has to be removed before you use it. Unfortunately I think it’s the only way to get them out of the house.

Does your vet do flea baths? I know that used to be something they all did, not sure if that’s still the case but may be worth asking especially if you can’t use preventatives on Blueberry.

As other have said they are widely available You can get them via amazon or chewy or probably locally at big hardware or pet stores. Vacuuming really does help reduce the adult population but not the eggs which stick to whatever they can. We used to cut up flea collars- which don't work well for shelties- and put them into the vacuum cleaner bags to kill the fleas we sucked up and don't open or remove the bags for awhile after cleaning let the insecticide work. Very frustrating but now we don't have a huge problem in the NE like we did in Texas and Fla and the systemics take care of it pretty well. In the long ago days in Fla I even diazo'ed my lawn which is terrible stuff-- would never do that today because the pop in the lawn was so bad.

Our problem is not only a few fleas but we have a ton of ticks and so we have gone to the systemics mostly for the ticks- fewer in number but more serious healthwise.

As a lighter side story decades ago I got a puppy from a co-worker. According to legend Mom was 100% Cocker Spaniel and Dad 100% Spitz. Now he weighed maybe 2lbs and looked like the end of a cotton swab. She warned me they had fleas so I put him in a box and dropped him at my parents store. I told them he had fleas so leave him in the box I will be by later to get him home.

Of course Mom could not resist and flea powdered him (think mid 1980's). Well he did not have fleas he HAD FLEAS! They were everywhere and according to mom coming out his ears and nose. So she paramited him (not supposed to be for puppies), twice. Thus his name Dow as in Dow Chemical. I joked for years she brain damaged him as he was a total wild thing (my fault) until he passed at 14. At 10 people would ask how old and think 10 months as he was still crazy at 10 years. He is why I got Sca as I wanted another high energy dog. Dow would have been a flyball legend if I had heard of it as he was super driven and fast. Of course then I got the super proper (though energetic) Sca and the rest is history

PS I told her about the fleas. They had no idea and wound up having to bomb the storage shed they were in a couple of times. They were just so fluffy you could not see that the 2 you saw were really 200 fleas.
 
Just a suggestion, If you have an aquarium, cover the top with a piece of aluminum foil (not super tight) before you use a flea bomb to keep the chemicals from hurting your fish. Remove when it's safe for you to reenter the house.
I lost a few when I was a kid when my dad bombed the house for fleas.
