Flu Warning: West Coast Dogs

Like Calliesmom mentioned if you don’t do activities involving many dogs (obedience classes, dog shows, dog parks, doggy daycares) I wouldn’t worry. I don’t usually over vaccinate my dogs but after almost 3 weeks of a coughing dog (Piper) next year for their annual they’re all getting the Bordatella vaccine! I’d get it now except I’d be charged an office visit for each dog ($85) so figure I’ll wait until then. Piper is getting better...spoke to the vet today and she said since he’s not coughing much (maybe 4 times a day now) and no discharge and eating and drinking and acting normally we can wait and see. Of course I know she doesn’t want an infectious dog in her office! Don’t blame her...

I agree, I wouldn't get it unless you come in contact with other dogs on your walks or visit places where there are other dogs. It's not likely you'd pick it up at the groomer, but you might ask if she's seen any of it.
