Fluid in the Chest

I'm so sorry that you don't have answers yet. I feel your heartache. The tests alone can costs thousands and then in the end, you are still faced with decisions that can cost thousands more.

I assume that they gave her medication to relieve the fluid in the lungs? Is it still building? Or as it let up at all?

She is doing the same, she is running and eating and drinking and playing so it's not bothering her. She is still coughing but not as bad as she was before they removed the fluid.

Barb, the fluid isn't in her lungs, it is in her chest between her lungs. So they don't seem overly concerned at this point.

If she starts acting funny we will be racing to meet the vet at the office!
Thank you for the thoughts again everyone!

Ok, so I really don't have much of an update on Rasha. I'm getting a little frustrated. I wish we could figure out what is wrong with her. Tomorrow she is going back to the vet's for a full blood panel to check liver levels, white blood cell count, etc. I really hope that this was one of those cases where she had fluid in her chest and doesn't get it back. I hope there isn't something more hiding that just hasn't been seen yet. Keep fingers and paws crossed that we don't find anything more when we get the results on Mon.

Thinking of you guys Shaun! Good Luck!

Soooooo I called the vet yesterday and guess what? All of the results come back normal for her extensive blood work that we had done. White Blood Cell count is normal, Pancreas levels normal, Liver levels normal...... Now what do we do? She had a really bad coughing episode in the middle of the night on Sun. which was proceeded by lots of vomiting. I really didn't get much sleep and was pretty tired yesterday from staying up half of the night.

I'm at the point where I have to decide where to draw the line on how much more we can spend. Do I take a chance and not do anything and make sure she is comfortable? Uggh! We did however hear of a Canine Cardiac Specialist that comes to our area once a week. I somewhat cautious about taking her there because all of the other vets that we have seen don't think it is her heart based on the ultrasounds. Our friend took his dogs to his vet yesterday and told him what we were going through and he said it has to be her heart and give them this name. He said that even if the other vets don't see it, it may just be because they aren't specialists and that he has another client going through the same thing and they won't listen to him and go to the specialist.

So what do you all think? Should we take her to the specialist? It's going to cost another $340.00 and we have already spent $950.00 in the last 2 weeks. Sorry for rambling but I guess I need some advice. I don't want to miss out on an opporunity to help get her back to normal but I don't want to spend all of the money only to find out it's not the problem.... Kind of a catch 22. Thanks for listening or should I say reading?
