Flyball disgrace

The Tully flyball star fall fell from grace on Sunday. Tully point blank refused to run and the whole team had to forfeit the competition. It was awful - and on our home grounds too. This shy little dog got her Champion title in her 1st 6mths of competing - and within a year of starting flyball and now she has a meltdown!

The team thought it was because the agility comp on Saturday made her tired/confused, other people said it was because I talk to her when she is running (but then I have always done that). It was an hour after her first run before she would chase a ball again, and then she did clean runs in the practice area in another field, but back at the comp she wouldnt budge.

I'm worried she got spooked on the first run and that did her for the rest of the day. I have some video of her first couple of runs.

Now what do I do? I'm inclined to rest her from flyball for a while as the next comp isnt until August and I dont think the team will want her (the comp is interstate).

Thankfully Deska ran really well.
 
Poor little Tully. She looked scared to me. I could definitely see Meggie acting just that way and I always call her my little scaredy cat. Hopefully it was just a fluke, but so sad if the team doesn't want her anymore! That's not fair. One time she should get a second chance. If she does it again, I could understand.
 
Silly pups, sometimes you just can't tell what's going on in their fuzzy little heads. Maybe Tully just needs a rest and change in activity.

I have no clues to help. I know nothing about it, but she sure is a cute little girlie!

I enjoyed the video. I am sure you weren't enjoying yourself though.
 
I wonder if there was anything weird around that second jump? A weird smell, shadow, etc? She definitely looked spooked at the same place in both runs.

I'm sorry, I have no suggestions. But it did seem to me that she was spooked, so hopefully next time she'll be fine.
 
She looks confused. It's weird. I am sorry, I know nothing abut the sport and I have no suggestions-- just my undying support and encouragement.
 
I am sorry you and Tully had such a bad time. She looked spooked but I couldn't tell what did it. She appeared to look over the second jump and stop and then look over the jump again. I would guess a smell or a shadow.

I had that happen to me with Justice during a utility run. It was at our home building, at the same time of the day as we practice, in the same ring and Justice is my bomb proof rock. He refused the bar jump on the direct jumping. Ran right up to it ,slammed on the brakes and walked around it. I sent him over the same jump the next time and same thing I was floored. The next weds at class I told my instructor, we set up the ring the same way , jump in same spot everything. I sent him out and directed him to the jump and he did it again . We walked out to the go out spot walk the line of his approach to the jump. 4 ft from the jump we saw light beam suddenly appeared though the covering on the window(a tarp put up for the show) and it threw a shadow across the bar. It looked like a wall of black right behind the streak of light and it was right across the jump point. To him he would have been jumping into a wall. The tarp had not been up before the show. They had a blind and it broke so they tried to close off the light that way. Any way we taped the window covering down and he completed the jump no problem. Ember did it one time with a weave pole in our building when a pole cast a weird shadow across the 5th weave slot. She popped out everytime until the poles were moved.

Any way I maybe something similar was happening with Tully
