Sorry, I meant to ask if you have used any of Merrick's food that wasn't grain-free (my fat fingers don't always hit the right tiny keyboard keys )Yes, the one I posted is grain-free.

I would be very interested in reading those articles...thank you in advance for any info as it is a very confusing topic right nowIt's more complicated than just grain free/issue with taurine. The vet may have given you incomplete information. I'll find some of the articles explaining the details of it tonight. For most breeds, most dogs, grain free in general is fine.
Wellness Lamb and Barley - never had a recall that I'm aware of, quality ingredients, the dogs love it and it gives them a nice firm stool. Shiny coats, too!
This sounds like a great food for your dogs. I am wondering if I can transition Duncan to this now since he is only 7 months?
Need to be cautious about any grain-free foods - an issue with taurine according to a vet I spoke with yesterday. She said lots of heart disease among dogs fed grain-free long term, just FYI.
Thank you for the clarification. I also read that chicken meal isn’t bad and has more protein than chicken, pound by pound. Actually I don’t see Fromm Gold Puppy dry food contains chicken byproduct in its first three ingredients based on the information they published on their website.Actually, chicken meal (or any named meat meal) is a good thing. It's chicken or other "by-products" that you want to avoid in foods. Those are the leftover parts of the animal such as beaks, feet etc. I've read that meat meal, such as chicken, is as good as or better than plain meat because it's more condensed.
