As a full time caregiver of my mom with 3 dogs and a house to care for I can certainly empathize with you but you are definitely not failing Gavin! Gavin has the best owner any dog could ever hope to have!
Get some rest and try to take some time for you and things will look better. Could you see about shipping it expedited? Maybe that would be just a few days? In the meantime you have your wagon don’t you?
I used to get really stressed and my councillor suggested I write down what was the stressors and then write down all the things I could do…the stress wasn’t as big as I’d made it in my head. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies!

Mom doesn't have a box that fits it well, and my uncle is trying but.....it weighs like 1 lb but is 2 feet long! everything is conspiring against me.
so either I send Mom a giant mailer and pray, or my uncle cuts the box they have down to make it cheaper to send

Cutting the box down and using packing tape wouldn’t be too hard. Probably your best bet!
Also check to see if there are any ride sharing services that might transport it for you.
 
Car not looking good, even if I can get it pass smog. probably will be car shopping soon. sigh......
I really wanted to put off the whole electric vs gas discussion.
electric is not 2000
mile road trip capable yet (charging takes too much time, been some articles recently about the issues with finding them on the road).
 
Well at least you've got less time to worry about it! You will both be so happy when it's done.
Sorry about the car, 20 years is pretty darn good though. We've had the whole electric/gas discussion as well. Maybe a hybrid is a good compromise?
 
Yes I agree, less time to worry! Is the vet doing a local Cindy or is he putting Gavin out?
I’ve read a few articles about electric vehicles and I don’t think I’m ready for one (plus I’m not sure how well they work in a cold climate. Plus, don’t forget you have to factor in the cost of an ev charger at your home (a regular outlet isn’t powerful enough). I think for myself I’d be more interested in a hybrid vehicle…they’ve been around longer and have certainly proven themselves and they still use less gasoline.
 
sedation and local. Ill ask if they can just do a local like they did for his neck. That one was smaller, but actually an open wound and the neck is more sensitive than the hip.

Electric is a no go for now, and a hybrid is more expensive. looking for a smallish CUV or sedan. will need to test drive lots of cars as it has been 20 years since I bought a car. I don't want to spend a lot on a people mover, especially as this is a filler car until electric is doable.
