Giving meds ...

You want to see fun, come to my place when I try to give Ariel, the horse, something she doesn't want. She can lift me off the floor but so far I have won every time!
I do what Dr. Mac suggested and sort of aim toward the back molars on the cheek pouch side. It sometimes helps if you can put the dog up on a table or a chair for the intimidation factor and have someone support the backside of the dog. Don't hold the muzzle tightly as the dog with start licking fast. Good luck!

this am went well, drained the spring water fron a can of tuna and mxed the crushed pill with that, he licked it up. I suppose I wll have to make him at some point, but as we get started with this, drama free is better.

Getting a system will be important. I give the first pill as soon as I'm up, and then he can have breakfast 30 mins later. This am, I finished, but one pill bottle was still in the basket, whereas I take the pill out and put the bottle on the counter... Anyway, I was not sure if the piroxicam was given! Didn't want to double dose, didn't want to miss a dose. I thought I was brilliant to count the pills. (if you knew me, I barely flicker, much less get close to brilliance) :biggrin2: and it confirmed, there is one piroxicam less than should be. It got stuffed in his scrambled eggs w cheese, or perhaps the sardine, but he got it!

His pee is blocked but moving in bits of drips and spray. How I wish he could "stream pee!"

I would think you should be seeing improvement with the pee flow soon. With Louie it was only a couple of days and he was going better for months, but he was on Derramax, but i think you would see similar results. Is he making little noises while he is going, or just lifting his leg trying and moving along and trying again? I was always amazed that I was more upset about the trying than he was.

Thanks, he is peeing better, and less frequently!

I am getting him used to the oral syringe by giving him chicken broth through it, hopefully he will readily accept it soon. He seems to be himself, bogarting the tennis ball for hours yesterday!

I'm getting good feedback from the folks that have been thru this, one had four years after diagnosis!

Cancer is scary, but Bobby and I are feeling happy and optimistic today.

Thanks for your well wishes!

Seven-day pill containers from the pharmacy are excellent for this type of thing! I use them for people medicine and pet medicine. I think I paid maybe $3 for the containers at Walgreens. Totally worth it, especially early in the AM and late at night when I'm half-awake. :sleepy:

Glad to hear Bobby is doing better, is even playing with the tennis ball for hours yesterday. Wonderful news, thanks for update.

I will continue to keep Bobby and you in my prayers.
