Going #2 INSIDE

Hi guys!

I haven't been on here in awhile, but I wanted to get advice from you guys, the experts! :)

My 1 1/2 year old girl is potty trained, and has been since she was 3-4 months old. But recently (about 3-4 weeks ago), she has started going poo on the rug in front of the door. What's weird about this is: 1) she goes out and potties in the morning! pee AND poo! and 2) she ONLY does it when it's just her and either me or my husband - not when we are both there, or at someone's house. It usually happens in the morning, after my husband leaves for work and while I am in the shower.

Is this just something for attention? How do we fix it? I'm at a loss... I tried locking her up, but since she is locked up all day while I'm at work, I feel terrible about doing that. It just boggles my mind because she GOES when she's outside.... how a little dog like her has so much poo inside her is incredible. ha ha!

I'd love any advice, similar stories, suggestions, etc. that anyone has! THANK YOU in advance! :)
 
Are you taking her outside both before and about 45 min to an hour after she eats her breakfast?

Two of mine who do huge poops first thing in the morning also need to go out 45+ minutes after eating and they do another huge poop. Where it all comes from is beyond me...I would swear they poop a far greater quantity than their food intake! LOL If I don't get them out that second time I am sure they would end up pooping in the house. My others are fine with a one big early morning poop and another one late in the evening.

another thought, besides letting her out again before you jump in the shower, is looking at what you feed. You can ask at the pet supply store what foods are less bulky, so as to reduce stool volume. I switched food on my sheltie 2 years ago because this 24 lb dog pooped like a human in terms of volume.

if you are already feeding a high quality food, you also could just bring her into the bathroom with you.
 
Well two things

1) Have you changed the diet lately? Are the poos solid or runny? It could possible be a dietary issue.

2) Most likely though is behavioral. Has there been any change in your lifestyle that may have impacted your pup? No matter the circumstance, you might have to go back to puppy 101 and crate your dog when you cant watch her.
