Good training treats????

Believe it or not, but I have never had anyone just come up and give my dog food. Trainers and peers have either asked for some of my own treats to give her, or asked if they may give her whatever they have. It's usually something I use anyways, so it's not a big deal. Most of my flyball friends are just as weird about treats as I am.

Chewiesmom can clarify if the trainer actually asked or if they just gave him treats... but I would hope the trainer asked.

This makes sense to me. I was just a bit taken aback at the suggestion that a trainer would give something to a pup that the owner did not approve of. I assumed that the treats were given without the agreement of the owner, but as I reread the OP, it really did not say whether or not the trainer asked for approval or not. As an owner, I couldn't allow anything to be given that I felt caused a problem for my pup.

I took a bag of Fresh Pet treats, cut into smaller pieces, to a training class once with the wild child, Jonesie Dream (who incidentally failed!!).

I had every dog in the class (except mine) doing a perfect sit for one of those little sausage treats! We shared, after we asked the other owners.

The treats just need to be small enough that the dog doesn't spend any time chewing, yet high value enough that the dog will perform for the yummy prize.

My favorite treats to give are: Merrick's Lamb Lung, Smoochers Drops with Yogurt, Zukes (I need to stock up) and Cloud Star treats (Buddy Biscuits or Tricky Trainers).

I'd ask your trainer not to give Chewie Pupperoni. Aside from the fast that it's nasty you can say they upset his stomach. They should be asking your permission before giving him anything.

I like the tiny moist Buddy Biscuits but my go-to training treat is string cheese. Easy and clean to carry in your pocket because it's individually wrapped and you can either break off tiny pieces or wave the whole stick in front of the dog. Ruffles goes nuts for it!

Sorry about the confusion guys! Basically what happened was they saw me struggling to get Chewie's attention in class and one of the trainers walked up...Chewie caught a wiff of what was in his pocket and that was all she wrote. I gave permission but didn't think to ask what they were giving him until he had already had a few treats. Once we found out what it was, we stopped letting him have those treats...but now he will only listen to the trainers because he thinks they will give him the "good stuff".

I've also recently started making my own treats using a recipe called tuna fudge or fishy fudge. Some people also call it puppy crack, but I'm not a fan of that name lol. My dog likes it, but it can be a little crumbly.
May I have the recipe for the tuna fudge?

I like to make my own. Best treat is boiled chicken hearts and gizzards. It sounds gross but my dogs love them. I boils several pkgs at a time. Cut into small pieces. I freeze in little baggies and take out a Baggie when I need it. Cooked chicken is also good. I have friends that use string cheese....handy

If you want pre made bravo makes nice training treats. Freeze dried chicken, hotdogs, and a few other meats.

Remember to make them tiny
