Grooming

Back when I had Riley I took him to a groomer….I didn’t know at that point how easy it was. I think I paid 60 then but boy did this groomer ever push me about trimming his fur! We finally agreed on trimming his chest fur, she wouldn’t take no for an answer! Once I got Piper (turned out it was the same breeder of Riley, a twist of fate that brought us together for sure) the breeder showed me how easy they are to groom. I’m not saying everyone should do them themselves just that it worked out for me…I’m cheap like Cindy lol…and I’d rather spend the saved money on them! New brushes, combs, blower, shampoo’s and other products…my dogs are rich me not so much:ROFLMAO:

I groom my boys as well. I bought a sheltie grooming book, combs, brushes. Over time, I've gotten a feel for what I like as well as what the boys like. This summer, I added a table and blower. They definitely have not adjusted to the blower yet, but taking it slow and hey are super vain so I make such a big deal out of them when I use it. They will be begging for it fairly soon.

Anyone else have super vain dogs? Like the boys KNOW they look good when they get groomed and their attitudes reflect it. Last time I did the full grooming, I took a pic of them together and they were literally posing, like 2 little kids totally thrilled with themselves. They sat up tall, didn't move for their pictures.

Gavin poses whenever the phone camera comes out. And he is even worse when we are travelling somewhere. I took probably close to 1000 pictures of him at the Grand Canyon :) He will even move his head slightly to give me different shots!

I love my mobile groomer. She just raised her rates to $50 this year! She is worth every penny. since I am working full time now it helps to have her do Baron and Beau every six weeks. I can do Liam myself. I have invested in a complete doggie spa for my basement! I saved $$$ when I did it myself. Not hard. Just time consuming.

Since mine have all been show dogs at some point in their lives, they view post bath time as meaning long sessions on the grooming table for trimming, chalking, primping, and brushing are imminent so they tend to run for the hills LOL. Some of them love having their pictures taken though, and will pose nicely! Sprite has been known to bark at some imaginary thing to lure her roomies out of the frame so she can have the camera to herself!
