Happy birthday my beautiful girl

Do you ever look at your dog and your heart just aches with the love. I just love my little fluffy teddy bear so much...

Tully is 14 years old today.

Tough year - gallbladder out, plate in her leg, numerous stays at the ER. She is looking old and frail.

This month she started Nosework classes, gosh she loves it. Most nights she gets sundowners, but Noseworks night she's bright and alert for the whole class.

When it warms up a little this morning we'll go out for a solo stroll, and then maybe do some box searches and spend some time out in the winter sun. No birthday cake as she has IBD.

Happy Birthday!!

Nosework is so great for the seniors. Brooke did it up till a week before she passed. One day we tried to practice without her, she was sound asleep and we thought it might be too much for her. As we prepped the garage for the search we had the door to the house closed. When we opened it, there she was, looking like "Don't even THINK about doing this without ME!"
That's definitely Tully - now if she sees me with a box she's up and hovering in case we're practising. I do think she's been more alert since we started doing the training. I know she loves the food part (she is on steroids after all) but I think she's just loving training and thinking. It's interesting that even on walks now I can hear her sniffing, she was always a visual dog so this will really help when her sight completely goes.

We ended up having a little potter near the old house (it's an easier walk) and then dropping in on a friend we used to walk with most days. Tully was very happy, although got stroppy at one point and snapped at the friend's young dog. I thought she was sore but it turned out she wanted lunch! These steroids are making her monster hungry. We did some noseworks in the evening and the other 2 had a go. Poor Della though, my Burmese cat decided to join in and Della is so slow on the uptake that the cat kept finding the hot dog before Della.
