Have a question for the show people

A Futurity Stakes is a show usually involving money prizes. Also usually in conjunction with a breed's National Specialty. For us, in shelties, it is for American Shetland Sheepdog Association members only. Here is how it works:
If you are a ASSA member in good standing, you can nominate your litter for the futurity for the following year, in that any pup would be older then 6months at the time of the National Futurity. Say, the pups are born in Feb, and the following year's National is in April, your pups would be nominated for the 12-18 month class. First, you must nominate the litter with the specified fee postmarked before the litter whelps. Before the 3 month age of the pups, you nominate each pup you would like to go forward with. Again with the specified fee per pup. Before the 6 month age, you again nominate individual puppies with their AKC litter number and proposed individual names. Again send your fee.
At the National on the Monday the Futurity is judged. There are 6 classes, 6-9 month, 9-12 month, and 12-18 month for dogs and bitches. Now, when you place in a class, you win money. When Robbie and Checkers both won their Futurity classes, each won $350.00. I believe the Best In Futurity wins approx $2000.00. But of course it all depends on how many puppies were nominated over the year.

Thanks for the explaination. I was wondering about how it worked. A friend of mine has a pup in this years futurity at Nationals.
