Heat anxieties (mine)

Out of curiosity, what do other people keep their AC at? I always thought 74 was prob. warm for Fasb, even in low humidity. If he can stand 77 or so when the humidity is low, I can probably worry a little less.

Went home for lunch. House is opened up today. 80-something outside, 74 on main floor. House feels quite comfortable at the moment. Fasb doesn't seem bothered yet. Rest of week will be different story. Warmer nights and higher humidity.
 
I've always kept it at 72, even during my days of poverty. There was always something I could do without in order to stay cool.
 
My dogs, (Arizona dogs born and bred) handle the heat just fine. It's going to be about 102 Wednesday with about 4% humidity. We don't turn on the AC till the house gets to 80, but again low humidity so its not apples to apples to the rest of the country. The boys lay on the tile or laminate. Ceiling fans on high keep a breeze going. I can remember days when I would look out and my angel Callahan was laying in the sun when I would have burnt to a crisp! We keep the house around 78 for us...and they are fine. They will get a bath tomorrow and I will get as much hair off the belly as I can.

Summer is our winter--time outside is limited. We walk during the early early morning (walks are done before 7 am), and the evening when the sun goes down. We all turn into vampires LOL Activity levels drop, just a fact of life.
 
Oh yes, we embrace the vampirism too! We call it "split shifts". We work in our AC offices and drive in our AC cars -- finish work and nap til the sun goes down -- and then stay up til 12 or 1 AM in order to do anything at all. It all evens back out in October.
 
Pittsburgh has what I'd call moderate humidity; on average around 60-65% during the summer. We tend to only run the A/C only a few weeks total during the summer when the heat and humidity are actually much higher than the average.

Most of the time we open windows/doors and run fans. The house stays relatively comfortable - upper 70's - mid 80's. The dogs are fine in that temperature. They lay on tile/linoleum or near the floor fan but they are fine.

Even when we run the A/C, it's set to 78 degrees.
 
I have central air my house..the main floor we live on I keep it 71, ideally id like 68 (but economically not feasible). The 71 with the ceiling fans on is doable. Down in the dog suite I have a window AC, since im not purchasing an additional central air unit for $3000 unit for a 10x20 room..and I keep that setting on 67 although its set at that I dont think it ever gets below 72...The dogs adjust fine to it..

I'm only about 80 miles away. We live across the border in Morgantown (WV).

Good! I was starting to think I was alone! I keep the air set at 72 when we aren't home and around 68 when we are :)
