Hello everyone!

Welcome Benjy's Mom. Benjy is a gorgeous sheltie. Yeah, with perseverance we have been slowly teaching our 4 month old sheltie "Quiet". He does really good when he doesn't get his food until he's finally quiet.

Glad you liked the photo.:smile2: The location is where we take him to see the train! He loves to see it and barks until it goes out of view.
We take him most days to see it. The train driver must wonder who the two crazy ladies (myself and my sister) with the dog are!lol

I implemented some of Cesar Milan's methods and managed to stop Benjy barking at, and biting!, the vacuum cleaner.

Bit more of a battle re the telephone etc!lol

I don't know whether you can get it in the US but I use a product called DAP which is plugged in and that does seem to help quite a bit.

They make up for the noise with their sweet ways though.:yes:

I'd love to know what those techniques were! The vacuum and blow dryer is our bane at my house.

Ok BarbV a bit hard to explain but here goes!

You basically have to 'own' these objects so when your Sheltie goes towards, say the vacuum, you stand in between it and your dog and take a dominant post (stand upright, look confident and legs slightly apart), then move your dog away just by walking forward and at the same time say SSHHHHHTTTTT.

You may have to do this a few times but believe me it works! I've even done it with the cats toys which Benjy always tried to take away when the cat was playing with it.

Now I get it! I was standing tall, but I was putting an 'i' in it! :lol:
