No Delano is a bit north and west of the cities. I'm quite a bit farther south probably 80 miles.
I have "Rock" a bi-black merle(4yr), "Boo" a light sable(5yr), and "Cooper" a deaf white sable(5yr), who only understands hand commands...
I was angry at my fiance for bringing the first Sheltie home, "Cooper" the white sable, which at the time I didn't know was def, but figured it out a couple of days later. I contacted the breeder after about a week and asked "did you know the Sheltie was deaf?" I was replied with "no" and that we could return him, well by then he had grown on me and could never give him up. You could say I was hooked.
No-one wanted the light sable at the breeder, same litter as the white sable, because he was skittish and didn't want anything to do with humans. I obidence train various breeds, so I took the dog from the breeder, to socialize only, so he could get a good home. Turns out he became our 2nd dog...
A year later the breeder had too many pups at once, so I made my way there @ 10 pm. Thats when I noticed a bi-black merle huddled against the wall, appearing malnourished, and terrified. I sat there motionless and after about an hour he finally came over to me, sat between my legs, looked up at me, and said take me home...
So I guess it can be said he picked me
Shhhhhhh! I know we shouldn't have favorites and don't tell the other 2, but I do have a special place in my heart for my Cooper....
No matter where I go, or what I do I always have a Sheltie or 2 or 3 wanting to help. Now if they just had opposable thumbs. They are a fantastic breed and I am proud to be chosen by the Sheltie.
