HELLO from Rockland, NY

Welcome to the Sheltie Nation!

Did someone mention pictures? :wink2:

Can't wait to hear more about your and your puppers.

Welcome to the Forum. Spencer is 4 years old and was never a destructive chewer, but when I want a break from doggie love (yes, sometimes work must get done), I give him a bully stick to chew on. I also just bought a deer antler, but haven't tried that yet. And he frequently gets a Kong stuffed with frozen green beans when I'm going out.

Thanks to all

I am a first time owner of a sheltie and I have never been happier. CASEY is a male. He is 8 months old. They are such intelligent animals. Any FYI is very welcomed. LOVES to chew. I have just reviewed some posts on toys and hope we can find THE ONE!!!!!:wink2:

Get info. Thanks everyone. NOW... pictures????? How do I post them?

Welcome to the forum from one New Yorker to another!

My girl is not a big chewer, but kongs are great for chewers. You can fill it with canned food, peanut butter, etc and freeze it. The cold is also good for a teething puppy.[/Q

Thanks for the info. Do you participate in any activities with your girl like herding or fly ball? Since you are local I was hoping you had some information.

Would love to post pictures... How do I do so??? HELP!!!!!!

Couple ways you could do it. You can become a premium member for $25 and then make your own albums and post pictures there or you can join a picture sharing link like Shutterfly or photobucket, there are others but I can't remember them right now, and upload picture there and then post the link here.

Welcome to the forum!

Bitter Apple spray onto the edges of furniture, rugs, etc that you don't want chewed is helpful as a deterrent...that and crating them when you can't keep an eye on what they are deciding to chew!

Hi Welcome to the forum. Did anyone mention we love pics? :biggrin2: With my pups I always gave them ice cubes to chew it numbs their gums for a while. You probably have to break them to smaller pieces. They also sell puppy teething rings you can freeze. I always left a ton of things around they could safely chew on and if they started chewing on something they weren't allowed to I would tell them NO and give them something they could and tell them good and praise. Also make sure they only have access to rawhide type chews when you are watching. Hope this helps a little.

Welcome and I am sure someone living in NY will answer your questions about best places to train...
We live near Chicago and have been blessed with opportunities... you name it, you could find it and shelties are so good to train and make you look so smart...
I think we spent fortune on flossies, bully sticks, sizzles, tracheas, lungs, pig snouts, ears, tails etc but it was better than have destroyed house... Che never was fond of rawhide so this one works only if there is some peanut butter smeared inside of the cracks.
Kong with human grade processed spreadable cheese on top of some kibble for stuffing, everything frozen, generally works well for Che. Che is 10 months old and is mostly over big chewing phase.
