Help! Fold in Ear?

Hi, please help, I have a 13 wk. old pup who's ear started to fly, I am trying to brace it using the japanese tape, but keep getting a fold in the back of the ear when I do it, what am I doing wrong? Am I trying to get them too close together?? Any suggestions? Thank you for any help!

I'm not sure if its because they are too close.

I never used Japanese tape to brace...I always glued between the ears - which means gluing the fur between the ears...which means the ears come very close together, because all you've got is fur to work with.

Can you post a picture? Are you talking about a vertical fold? Where is the fold exactly?

Thank you for your replies. I took it out and just taped his ears down so don't want to try it again for a picture.. The fold is horizontal right above the base. The top half of the ear tips back a little and makes the fold. Maybe my pups ears are just set low (his dad's are) I can pull his ears together with my hands real close and there is no fold, so it's got to be me placing the brace wrong or making it too short somehow. I have been making the brace about 3 inches long?
Thank you. I don't live very close to anyone here in Mo. that would help..
I appreciate the time, I may have to go back to speed-sew..LOl

This may be your problem....your brace or yarn is too high on the ear. It needs to be at the very base of each ear, so you are pulling the whole ear up and toward the other ear. If the brace is too high, you just pull the upper part (the cup of the ear), and you get a fold. Ideally, you do want the inside edges of the ears or fur to touch. If you can't get it that close, stay with it, and next time you do the ears, you should be able to get them closer together. Remember, to get the ideal ear set, you have to have all the tension on the base of the ears. Hope this makes sense.
