Help Save Zippy Texas

Zippy

I saw Zippy on Friday & sent an email off to the contact people at the Austin Sheltie Rescue. Never heard back so I'm glad to see others have pushed to save him. If I was closer I'd get him myself. Every dog deserves to end their days safe & cared for. His picture broke my heart. We need a happy ending!

Zippy hasn't been rescued. He is still there and Free to anybody who will adopt him. Where's my Kleenex? Poor old Zippy. Have to look for a different rescue, maybe a senior rescue.

If I only was closer

I would take him if I was closer or had contacts there to transport. I don't have any rescue contacts up there. Mine is below Houston. Surely there must be a no kill rescue willing to take him. It's sad that he is stuck there. Maybe I should post him on the Austin craigslist asking for help. Whatcha think?

It sure couldn't hurt. Just don't say he's free. There are some unscrupulous people out there looking for free dogs. Maybe a rescue will see him on craigslist.

Prayers going out that he is rescued as well!! This is so, so sad. To live to be 12 yrs. old and end up at a shelter is heartbreaking. If only I lived in Texas:cry:

A Prayer for Zippy

Lord please save Zippy from the dire situation he is in.

Please intervene and guide this sweet sheltie, safely, were he needs to be.

Please send someone to get him out of where he is, as they are overcrowded and have no room for him. His time there is more than up.

Thanking you in advance, Lord.

This is what I heard from a friend and member of the board at ASR:

"Zippy didn't come into rescue because of his age, his heartworm status and the lack of foster folks we have right now - I'm so sorry. If I were able to take another dog in (and sell this house) I would have come down to take him - "

I am sorry. I have been depressed all night since I heard this. I am sorry a pup who has had such a hard life cannot find shelter in his last days in a safe and loving haven.

The rescue, I guess, cannot take all dogs, especially one who is sick and has no chance of recovery. Plus the chance of his being adopted are slim because of his age. I guess they need to save their resources for dogs who have a better chance.

I am not angry at the rescue as much as I am angry at this previous owner. Dogs are not disposable.

I pray he can find a home to live out his final days. My heart breaks for him.

I pray someone will find it in their heart to adopt this poor fellow.

Little Zippy has been on my heart all day.

I was wondering if any of our Texas forum members could possibly go and visit him? Poor little guy is in such a terrible situation.

I am still praying someone gets him out of there and that it is not too late.
